During 2000 /01 we were heavily involved in the re-creation of
Lagonda 1, the car raced by Major W.H. Oates at Brooklands. This
has been a fascinating and challenging project, which has required extensive
research and investigative work to piece together this unique piece of motoring
history. Below are photos showing some of the work involved

Left - The original
car with Major Oates at the wheel - The car was scaled by FVR from
this and a handful of similar photos Right
- The car today, with body work by Rod Jolley

Left - The only
surviving reference of the original engine bay Right
- Exhaust and inlet manifolds take shape
Underneath, showing rebuilt
back axle and shortened torque tube & drive etc.

Left - Re-claimed
from boxes of rusty bits, the engine goes back together Right
- Milling the side of the replacement block to take the racing exhaust manifold
