Optional Specifications

Below is a list of a few engine options and modifications we have carried out for our customers

Rebuild ancillary items (carburetors, distributor / magneto, dynamo etc.)

A water pump Left - New and reconditioned parts ready for assembly and Right - Assembled pump ready for fitting

Fit modern oil filter and pump

A modern oil pump, filter and pressure relief valve will significantly prolong the life of the engine

Apply exterior finish to items to match original (or customers choice) ie: paint, stove enamel, chrome etc

For appearance most customers prefer us to paint the engine when apart, rather than to paint assembled over gasket edges etc

Balance crankshaft / flywheel / clutch assembly

This is important for a smooth running free reving engine - essential for racing engines

Balance pistons & con rod assemblies

Important for the same reasons as above

Shot peen crankshaft & con rods

Shot peening improves fatigue strength by up to 60% for a rough surface - even polished con rods can be improved by 10 to 20%. Shot peening works by steel (or iron or glass) beads hammering the surface layer of the component causing internal compressive stresses and hardening

Cooling system improvements

An additional water outet improves cooling on this 4.5L Lagonda's front cylinders

Fit Lip type seals

Left - MG front crankshaft lip seal conversion  and Right - Rear conversion
